VOLUNTEER INTERNATIONAL TREATMENT PROGRAMS FROM A HOST NATION PERSPECTIVE
The goal of this panel is to critically examine volunteer international treatment programs around the world from the perspective of health care practitioners in the host nation.  The paradigm for such international treatment program work across disciplines is changing and needs to be host-nation centered rather than volunteer centered; if Westerners hope to continue to be welcome participants in the care of children with clefts in developing nations, we will have to change accordingly.
