1. CLINICAL DATA STANDARDS: AN EXTENSION FROM THE PARAMETERS OF CARE DOCUMENTATION
The ACPA Database Committee is currently attempting to address members' concerns over the lack of agreed data collection targets for clinical care.  The committee has developed a data standards framework based upon the ACPA's Parameters of Care documentation and will be seeking members' input to identify these data standards.  This presentation will allow members to gain an understanding of this process so that they will be better informed about how to participate within their areas of expertise. 2. THE AMERICLEFT PROJECT: GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATION IN COLLABORATIVE INTERCENTER OUTCOMES STUDIES
This Eye Opener will provide attendees with information useful in preparing for participation in intercenter outcome studies, based on the experiences of those who have already successfully executed such studies in the Eurocleft and Americleft Projects.  The steps necessary to initiate those Projects, necessary records and methodologies to ensure scientifically valid and reliable comparisons will be outlined. 3. CHALLENGING CASE STUDIES IN VELOPHARYNGEAL MANANGEMENT
Over the past ten years, Cleft Lip and Palate/Craniofacial teams have worked to enhance team care by increasing their focus on family centered, collaborative decision making. ASHA DIVISION 5 - Speech Science and Orofacial Disorders will present challenging VPD cases from several teams in both video and audio format. Each presentation will provide a detailed history, identify options for treatment strategies, consider “best practices”, and specify medical/speech/ family concerns for all treatment options.  Attendees will add to the discussion, decision making and offer alternative treatment strategies. 4. TEAM APPROVAL PROCESS: CAT 101, IT’S NOT AS SCARY AS IT LOOKS!
An overview of the team approval application will be presented. There will be particular emphasis placed on questions requiring explanations relative to a team’s total quality improvement process and measures of treatment and protocol outcomes. The major problems encountered by the pilot and first region teams completing the assessment tool will be discussed together with strategies offered to these teams to aid in addressing specific areas of concern such as outcome measures of a team’s procedures. Audience participation will be encouraged. Individuals attending this course will be able to discuss the goals of the application process and list areas of concern for their team that might be encountered during the application process. 5.  MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION
This eye-opener will be given by members of the CPCJ Editorial Board. Section editors from a variety of disciplines will discuss what constitutes a good scientific manuscript, what kind of manuscripts are accepted, and what is required by the CPCJ. Common problems in manuscript preparation, and weaknesses of submitted manuscripts will be discussed. (V, L)
